Not Reddit's official Data API

Public Reddit Data API (Independent, Read-Only)

Structured JSON for public Reddit posts, comments, search, and subreddit metadata—built for research pipelines and data warehouses. One Bearer key, Credits only on success.

What this is not

  • Not Reddit's official Data API product. “Reddit Data API” on reddithelp.com refers to Reddit's own program.
  • Not Reddit's official API, and not affiliated with or endorsed by Reddit Inc.
  • Not a way around Reddit's Data API terms or app-registration process. If you need official access, apply through Reddit.
  • Read-only public data. No posting, commenting, voting, messaging, or moderation.
  • No logged-in user data: no inboxes, saved or upvoted items, private or quarantined communities.
  • Not a full historical archive or deleted-content recovery tool.
  • You remain responsible for how you collect, store, and use Reddit data. This page is not legal advice.

Minimal read

  1. Authenticate with a SpideyData Bearer key.
  2. Call the catalog route you need (posts, comments, search, …).
  3. Map JSON into your warehouse; confirm meters on Pricing.
GET /v1/reddit/posts
$ curl -sS -G "$SPIDER_BASE_URL/v1/reddit/posts" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SPIDER_API_KEY" \
  --data-urlencode "subreddit=datascience" \
  --data-urlencode "sort=new" \
  --data-urlencode "limit=25"

Into your pipeline

Page with after/cursor where documented. Stored comment job pagination and job polling use free meters when billing is active. Treat payloads as JSON → warehouse inputs—not a guaranteed field-stable warehouse product beyond the documented envelope.

Meter tiers (no unit prices here)

Public reads, visibility, expanded/deep search, comment jobs, and monitors use named meters. This page does not hard-code credit unit prices—see Pricing for current rates.

Is this the right fit?

Choose this path for managed public Reddit JSON. Do not expect:

  • Full historical Reddit archive or deleted-content recovery
  • Keyword or brand-mention monitoring inbox
  • Private, quarantined, or logged-in-only content
  • Official Reddit API approval bypass or write/mod OAuth replacement
  • Hard-coded credit unit prices on this page—see Pricing for meters
  • Complete field-level schemas beyond OpenAPI/live samples
  • Official Data API partnership or approval substitution

Credits & billing

Public reads and successful deliveries use Plan Credits. Exact meters and rates follow Pricing; failed requests on our side are not charged when billing is active. Confirm live meters in Pricing and the Reddit API docs before publishing numbers.
