Public comment trees
Reddit Comments API
Fetch public comment trees synchronously, or enqueue async comment jobs for deeper delivery. Structured JSON for research pipelines—read-only public data.
Comment collection paths
Sync live trees for what the public path returns; async jobs when a thread needs more depth.
Live comments by post
GET comments for a public post id—structured trees for analysis.
Single comment lookup
Fetch a public comment by id when you already have a pointer.
Async comment jobs
POST a comment job, poll status, then page stored results—poll/list reads are free meters when billing is active.
Expanded / deep meters
Higher-cost meters exist for broader coverage; they are not the default sync path. Confirm on Pricing and docs.

Try /tools/reddit-comment-export before automating (IP limits apply).
Not keyword comment search
Searching comments by keyword is a sibling API—see Comment Search.
How comment reads work
- Use sync comment routes for the comments the live path returns on a public post.
- Enqueue an async comment job when you need deeper collection than a sync read.
- Page stored job results; confirm meters on Pricing before production volume.
$ curl -sS -G "$SPIDER_BASE_URL/v1/reddit/posts/$POST_ID/comments" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SPIDER_API_KEY"Async comment jobs
Create a job with POST /v1/reddit/posts/{post_id}/comments, then GET /v1/reddit/comment-jobs/{job_id}. Stored comment pagination follows the documented free poll/list meters when billing is active.
Is this the right fit?
Choose this path for managed public Reddit JSON. Do not expect:
- Full historical Reddit archive or deleted-content recovery
- Keyword or brand-mention monitoring inbox
- Private, quarantined, or logged-in-only content
- Official Reddit API approval bypass or write/mod OAuth replacement
- Hard-coded credit unit prices on this page—see Pricing for meters
- Keyword comment search on this page—use the Comment Search API
Credits & billing
Public reads and successful deliveries use Plan Credits. Exact meters and rates follow Pricing; failed requests on our side are not charged when billing is active. Confirm live meters in Pricing and the Reddit API docs before publishing numbers.
