Semrush SERP API vs a Pure SERP API

Google, Bing, Yahoo and DuckDuckGo: live · Baidu and Ecosia: opening soon · not GA

Semrush's API is part of an SEO suite; a pure SERP API returns the live results page as JSON. They overlap less than the names suggest.

Baidu and Ecosia endpoints opening soon.

Access

SEO-suite API (such as Semrush): Through the suite's own API access

Pure SERP API (/v1/serp): A SpideyData Bearer key

Not an adapter

/v1/serp does not proxy, resell or wrap Semrush. It returns no Semrush data and needs no Semrush subscription: every response comes from a results page fetched for your request.

When raw results are the better fit

  • You need the page as it looks now for your own query list.
  • You need several engines in one response shape.
  • You want to store and score positions in your own database.
